Fatigue Testing of Welded Support Structures for Offshore Wind Turbines (FaWS)

Towards an improved understanding of fatigue performance.

The fatigue performance of welded connections determines the design and the lifetime of offshore structures. An increased understanding of the fatigue performance in offshore turbine foundations will be key to reducing the costs and risks associated with turbine design. The Offshore Wind Accelerator Fatigue Testing of Welded Structures in Air (OWA FaWS) project aims to achieve this through bringing together stakeholders from across the industry; developers, steel producers, testing institutions and certification bodies. The project’s output is anticipated to provide a solid baseline for the establishment of fatigue curves that targets real-world loading conditions and weld details.
