What is a district heating/cooling system?
DHC systems involve the distribution of heat and cooling from a central source to multiple buildings via a network of underground pipes. They are a cost-effective way to reduce carbon emissions and enable local authorities to play a more active role in the delivery of local energy.
We support projects through each stage of the development process, from concept to delivery, acting as both project manager and delivery consultant. We help our clients to; determine their role in the delivery of DHC schemes; de-risk the investment opportunity; shape a project that delivers local benefit and build stakeholder support that leads to the project reaching financial close. Our team consists of industry-leading experts with 20+ years’ experience in developing DHC projects worldwide.
Why Carbon Trust?
Carbon Trust is one of the UK's leading advisors on district heating and cooling (DHC), with a long track record of supporting schemes through the development cycle to financial close. We have successfully delivered more than 70 local authority-led schemes since 2012. We also work internationally, most notably on district cooling assessments in India and Malaysia.
