Overview

The Carbon Trust, with support from offshore wind technical consultancy OWC, has supported the delivery of the Floating Offshore Wind Demonstration Programme. The UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) awarded £31.6 million in grant funding for demonstration of innovative floating offshore wind technologies in five challenge areas:

  1. Dynamic cables
  2. Anchoring and moorings
  3. Floaters and foundations
  4. Industry defined innovation
  5. Integrated demonstration of multiple technologies

The Floating Offshore Wind Demonstration Programme has enabled the projects selected to bring technology closer to commercialisation to support cost reduction and enable floating offshore wind development at new sites.

An overview of all eleven projects has been published detailing an overview of the innovations, potential benefits to the industry, and key findings from the demonstration projects.
