Call for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study for the OWA Cables Technical Working Group (TWG-C) to establish a robust, risk-based business-case framework for termination monitoring, enabling offshore wind developers to make clear, defensible decisions on when, where, and whether termination monitoring creates value – differentiated by export versus array cables and by new-build versus retrofit applications.
The main objectives of this work are to establish what termination monitoring can and cannot realistically deliver in terms of avoided failures, reduced Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and revenue protection. The work will also develop a developer-configurable, hybrid business-case framework that accommodates developer-specific failure rate assumptions and identifies break-even thresholds and no-go regions. In addition, the work will define a vendor-agnostic alarm grading and decision logic framework, and articulate developer expectations to support better-aligned innovation from OEMs.
