Offshore Wind Accelerator: Quantity and Quality of Qualified Termination Specialists

Call for entries from companies and consortia interested to undertake a study for the OWA Cables Technical Working Group (TWG-C) to investigate quality and efficiency of termination installation to:

  • Reduce risk of failure due to poor workmanship, resulting in reduced downtime.
  • Improve consistency in skills across the workforce.
  • De-risk timelines due to shortage of qualified personnel, resulting in reduced timescales/costs.

The main objectives of this work are to:

  • Understand failures in termination installation for all connector types, but with a particular focus on T-connectors.
  • Define, improve, and standardise training and control procedures, which will be applicable at 66 kV and 132 kV.
  • Increase the quality of termination installation.
  • Quantify demand on workforce and future skills shortages, identify limiting factors and incentives for increased workforce, through supply chain engagement.
