Call for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study for the OWA Cables Technical Working Group (TWG‑C) to deliver Cable Burial Risk Assessment (CBRA) 2.0, a targeted, industry‑led update to support consolidation of CBRA as the industry-wide trusted reference for assessing cable burial requirements across asset owners, contractors, certification bodies, and insurers.
The project aims to preserve the core probabilistic structure of CBRA while refreshing assumptions, improving clarity of application, and addressing known gaps. The main objectives of this work are to update and clarify the CBRA methodology in line with current offshore wind practice, including improved definition and communication of acceptable risk levels, return periods, and the role of probabilistic assessment in decision-making.
The project will also deliver guidance to improve transparency and consistency in application, including clearer treatment of input assumptions, data quality, uncertainty, and modelling judgement. In addition, the work will extend CBRA guidance to better reflect modern project realities such as multi-cable configurations, system-level considerations, and trade-offs between burial depth, protection, installation risk, and repairability.
The project will be delivered through a structured programme of work including scope alignment and stakeholder engagement, methodology refresh, additional guidance development, and consolidation into a publishable CBRA 2.0 guidance package.
