Yvo de Boer

Yvo is a globally respected leader in climate policy, sustainable development and international climate diplomacy, bringing decades of experience across government, international institutions and the private sector.
Yvo most recently served as President and Board Chair of the Gold Standard Foundation, where he oversaw efforts to drive high integrity climate action and accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. He also acted as a strategic advisor to the International Solar Alliance, supporting global resource mobilisation and engagement efforts, and has advised numerous international development agencies on strategic positioning and organisational readiness.
Earlier in his career, Yvo served as Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), where he played a pivotal role in elevating climate change on the global political agenda and advancing the financial frameworks necessary for international climate action.
His leadership experience includes serving as Director General of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), where he strengthened long-term strategy, expanded country programmes and deepened operational partnerships. Yvo also led KPMG’s global Climate Change & Sustainability Services practice, helping organisations integrate environmental and social value into strategic and financial decision making.
Yvo previously held senior roles within the Dutch Environment Ministry and represented both the Netherlands and the EU in international climate negotiations. He has also contributed to bodies including the OECD Environmental Policy Committee, the UN Commission on Sustainable Development, and the World Economic Forum Agenda Council on Climate. He brings strategic insight, a global perspective and a longstanding commitment to advancing effective climate solutions — leadership that will be invaluable as the Carbon Trust accelerates its mission to a decarbonised future.
