Building Brand Trust through Sustainability Communication: What’s Working Now?
Regen House | 5pm - 6:15pm EDT
As scrutiny of environmental claims increases and consumer expectations continue to evolve, organisations face a critical challenge: how to communicate sustainability in ways that build trust, strengthen brands, and deliver business value.
The Carbon Trust convenes together representatives from a leading brand, retailer and independent assurance provider Bureau Veritas, to explore what is working in sustainability communication today, from labels and product claims to broader brand storytelling. More than a traditional panel, this session is designed as a conversation on what it takes to build consumer trust, influence purchasing decisions, and create business value in practice.
Participants are encouraged to bring questions, share experiences, and challenge ideas, creating opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, practical problem-solving, and new connections across the sustainability community. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of the approaches that are strengthening credibility, the pitfalls that can undermine trust, and the role of robust data, verification, and assurance in supporting effective sustainability communications.

The Carbon Trust dinner: Driving consumer trust and commercial value through carbon labelling
We are bringing together senior leaders from marketing, sustainability and compliance for an intimate discussion on how companies can communicate sustainability credibly and competitively amid evolving consumer expectations and increasing scrutiny of environmental claims.
Over dinner, we'll discuss:
- The latest consumer attitudes towards sustainability and environmental labelling.
- Developments in US and international regulation, including FTC guidance on environmental marketing claims and the EU's ECGT Directive.
- Navigating the greenwashing versus greenhushing dilemma.
- Turning compliance into competitive advantage: how brands can build trust, strengthen reputation and drive commercial value through credible sustainability communications
