Offshore Wind Accelerator: Port Charging Development (PCD)

Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study for the OWA Logistics & O&M Technical Working Group (TWG-L) that will investigate and understand the requirements for onshore vessel charging infrastructure at port locations for CTVs.

The main objectives of this work are to:

  • Assess current port facilities available to CTVs and evaluate the power capabilities currently provided.
  • Provide an understanding of hybrid and future fully battery electric vessel port charging requirements.
  • Create a road map detailing the requirements for the development of port charging and evaluate infrastructure developments required.
  • Promote the uptake of the proposed onshore infrastructure strategy to the wider offshore wind sector and port authorities.

The expected benefits of this work are that it will outline the current onshore charging infrastructure as well as specifying the future development required for onshore charging of CTVs at port locations.
