Floating Wind Joint Industry Project: Stick building wind turbine generators on-site (SBOS)

Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested to undertake a study to identify and assess innovative methods and technologies that permit wind turbine generator (WTG) assembly at floating offshore wind farm sites.

The project will identify enabling technologies that allow for WTG assembly on-site and define required operational procedures for stick-building on site. It will also set the frame and limitations for on-site assembly and identify potential major showstoppers.

It is hoped that the project will bring versatility in installation methods for floating WTGs and enable significant cost reductions. The greater versatility is expected to reduce port facility and availability bottlenecks and reduce WTG assembly constraints for individual floating foundation concepts.
