As a member of Carbon Trust’s offshore wind team, Tobias is the main point of contact for the initiation, set-up and management of large-scale RD&D projects within the Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) programme. In addition, he is responsible for the coordination of the Offshore Renewables Joint Industry Programme (ORJIP) which is aimed at reducing consenting related risks. Tobias has a long-term experience in implementing funding programmes and a profound knowledge of the European wind energy sector. Recent project references include the OWA Wind Farm Control Trials (WFCT), the BLUE Piling Offshore Test (BLUE PILOT) and the Improved Fatigue Life of Welded Jacket Connections (JaCo) project.

In his previous position, Tobias was Deputy Head of the Wind Energy Department at Project Management Juelich (PtJ), one of Europe’s leading project management agencies for energy research. In this role he was responsible for the implementation and strategic alignment of national funding programmes, and the supervision of more than 150 wind energy related and cross-functional R&D projects.

Tobias holds a diploma in environmental science from Essen University, Germany. From 2002 to 2006, Tobias worked as a Senior Research Assistant at the Chair for Energy Systems and Energy Economics (LEE) at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. He is trained as an auditor for Environmental and Quality Management Systems according to EMAS, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
