Christelle van Vuuren
Christelle has over ten years' experience in climate change strategy and energy, reporting and regulatory responses, and green finance developments. She joined the Carbon Trust in 2017 and focuses on the delivery of a variety of projects, working in both the private and public sector to help them set science-based targets and quantify the carbon offsets of products and services. Christelle also works on the UK FCDO Transforming Energy Access Programme, supporting work in South Africa.
Prior to joining the Carbon Trust, Christelle worked as a corporate sustainability consultant focusing on assurance and reporting, mining and renewable energy environmental provisions, environmental strategy and reporting systems development, green bonds assurance, environmental due diligence and internal auditing. She was also the team lead for advice on the South African carbon regulatory landscape, and a technical specialist supporting natural capital impact valuation services. Prior to this Christelle worked as a process engineer in environmental consulting conducting air quality impact assessments, and started her career as a production engineer for a vanadium beneficiation operation.
Christelle has an honours degree in Environmental Engineering and a degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Pretoria, South Africa.
