About the role
The Carbon Trust is seeking to hire a national expert based in Indonesia with experience in energy efficiency, climate finance, project financing and public policy. The selected expert will work alongside our Singapore team to deliver project work with national and sub-national governments, multilateral donors, utilities and other energy sector stakeholders in Indonesia.
The Carbon Trust has been a global leader on advancing low-carbon policies, programmes, finance and technology for over 20 years. Our work in Indonesia has been focused on scaling up low-carbon initiatives specifically focusing on energy efficiency and climate financing interventions funded through bilateral and multilateral organisations (e.g. UK FCDO, ADB). The Energy Sector Expert will support the delivery of one of our existing donor-funded programmes in Indonesia to coordinate with project beneficiaries on a regular basis. Subject to further funding being secured, the scope of this role may expand to support other programmes too. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual from the low carbon energy sector with strong networks, project management and consulting skills, and ideally experience engaging with financial institutions. The successful candidate will support the delivery of our energy sector programmes by providing high quality and impactful advice to our Indonesian stakeholders.

Main duties and responsibilities
This role will be expected to carry out the following activities to support the delivery of the UK PACT Energy Efficiency Programme:
- Initiate and conduct consultative meetings with financial institutions on financing energy efficiency projects
- Broker commercial discussions between energy efficiency project owners, financial institutions, energy service companies and guarantee agencies (national and international)
- Deliver capacity building sessions on energy efficiency finance for stakeholders in the energy efficiency ecosystem
- Contribute to report writing that form part of the programme’s deliverables
- Support regular updating of activities and progress with government counterparts
- Lead the problem-solving effort and offer local insights related to climate financing across the energy sector
- Liaise with other partners and consultants in Indonesia
