Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study to understand the technical feasibility of green hydrogen production scenarios and the key drivers for cost reduction.
Currently offshore hydrogen production technologies are being developed and piloted, and some analysis has been undertaken to understand the relative merits of different production scenarios. However, there remain knowledge gaps on the technical feasibility of different green hydrogen production configurations and the whole life cost of managing green hydrogen production facilities.
The objective of this project is to undertake a technical review of the technologies relevant to large-scale green hydrogen production both on and offshore, including their capital and operational costs, level of technical maturity (TRL), physical footprint and impact on wider wind farm design. This project will then develop scenarios for hydrogen production from offshore wind, both on and offshore to establish the whole life cost of these different scenarios and undertake sensitivity analysis to understand key drivers of the whole lifetime cost.
