Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study to identify high system value ancillary services which offshore wind farms are well placed to deliver.

The project will identify ancillary services that will be needed from offshore wind in a future high wind deployment scenario in both the UK and Germany. This project will also undertake a technical review to better understand the technical options available to provide these services from offshore wind (or co-located assets). 

The objective of the study will be to benefit the industry through: 

• Informing further studies on technologies able to provide ancillary services as part of an offshore wind farm 
• Informing the offshore wind industry about market needs
• Providing an overview of ancillary services that can be provided by offshore wind and an understanding of the barriers that prevent greater ancillary service provision from offshore wind

The deadline for clarification questions has passed. Responses to the clarification questions are included below. 

The closing date to receive tender submissions has been extended by three days to 24 March 2022, 17:00 GMT.
