Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study for the Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) logistics and Operations and Maintenance Technical Working Group (TWG-L) to investigate the development of a standardised Walk-to-work (W2W) gangway interface between large vessels and offshore wind assets.
The main objectives of this work are to:
- Understand and identify opportunities to standardise the interface between W2W platforms and offshore wind structures.
- Investigate with W2W designers an optimised design to standardise the tip interface on gangways. Engage with industry to consider their know-how and feedback, and to disseminate the work results and ensure buy-in.
- Create and develop a standardised W2W design for the landing zones on WTGs and offshore substations.
- As part of the design, create a reference document with the design requirements, particularly the geometry.
- Improve the safe operation of motion-compensated gangways in the offshore wind sector.
The expected benefits of this work are to develop a standardised W2W gangway interface that can be shared with the wider industry to help increase the safety of technician transfer
