Offshore Wind Accelerator: Sub-synchronous oscillation protection of Type-4 WTGs

Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study for the OWA Electrical Systems Technical Working Group (TWG-E) that will investigate the detection of sub-synchronous oscillations and sub-synchronous resonance phenomena for wind farms with Type-4 wind turbine generators.

The main objectives of this work are to model and understand these phenomena, and to identify corrective actions required to mitigate these on local and system levels.

The expected benefits of this work are to provide a clear understanding of relevant protection methods for these phenomena and to mitigate negative consequences on local and system levels.
