Offshore Wind Accelerator: Analysis of flange tolerance relaxation and shimming on large diameter bolted connections

Call for entries from companies and consortia interested to undertake a study that aims to produce design and fabrication guidance for the optimisation of large diameter flange connections.

The main objectives of this work are to:

  • Produce design and fabrication guidance for the optimisation of large diameter flange connections.
  • Determine the impact of more relaxed flange fabrication tolerances on the design of flanges and bolts, with an aim of allowing relaxed fabrication tolerances to reduce costs.
  • Analyse the effectiveness of shimming for compensation of flange tolerances.
