Principles and company information

Our principles, annual reports and company information from the Carbon Trust.

Principles

Impact. We listen to our partners and clients and create solutions that meet their needs, drawing on our experience and know-how.

Resilience. In order to deliver our mission, grow, innovate and capture emerging opportunities we must be financially strong. Any surplus revenue is reinvested in our work.

Integrity. We insist on honesty, integrity and fairness in our work and expect the same from our partners, clients and contractors. The direct or indirect offer, payment, soliciting or acceptance of bribes in any form is unacceptable and we must avoid conflicts of interest.

Health, safety and the environment. We have a systematic approach to health, safety and environmental management. We work to have a positive impact on the environment and ensure the safety and well-being of our people. We are committed to continually improving our environmental performance, as set out in our Health, Safety and Environment Policy.

People. We value diversity and provide an inclusive environment for our people. We recruit, reward and promote on merit and seek to develop skills and capabilities.

Learning. We learn from our experience, successes and failures, avoid blame and aim to continually improve.

Compliance. We comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the countries in which we operate and, where appropriate, go beyond compliance

The Carbon Trust’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions

As we continue to support businesses, governments, and organisations on their journeys to Net Zero, we are on our own decarbonisation journey, in line with our mission.

Our targets and commitments

On our own Route to Net Zero, The Carbon Trust has set science-based targets (SBTs) and is committing through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) process as follows:

Scope 1 & 2
  • Set Scope 1 & 2 science-based targets aligned to a 1.5°C pathway.
  • Commit to reduce absolute Scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2018 base year.
Scope 3
  • Set Scope 3 science-based targets, aligned at a minimum, to a well below 2°C pathway.
  • Commit to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions from business travel by 65% per FTE by 2030.
  • Commit that 56% of its suppliers, by emissions covering purchased goods and services, will have SBTs by 2026.
  • The Carbon Trust will seek to go further by positively influencing our remaining sources of emissions as well as having a positive overall impact through our wider work helping organisations move to Net Zero.

The Carbon Trust will go a step further as we commit to setting a Net Zero target.

We know the route to Net Zero is a challenging one, but as we deliver further impact through our work with clients, we will continue our own decarbonisation journey; it’s all part of our mission to accelerate the move to a decarbonised future.
