Energy at Work Ltd

About the Company

Clients mostly contact us to save energy. But we find many buildings have lighting in poor condition and lacking ideal control, beam-type or positioning for the way the space is used. We often design new lighting-layouts, showing our client 3d simulations and estimating light-levels. We also design suitable controls.

A common benefit is making staff or students more productive or a public space more inviting.

Existing Technology:

- Recessed and surface-mounted fluorescent

- Wall-washer fluorescent

Old fluorescent lighting was creating a yellowed appearance to stock and displays

New Solution:

- T5 retrofit where lights will rarely be switched and dimming will never be necessary

Good colour-rendering of new lights enhanced the effect of the shop displays and removed flicker

Capital Cost: £4,909.81

Energy Saving: £2,217.20 p/a

Carbon Saving: 13 tCO2e p/a

Other savings: Relamping savings due to long life lighting. Est. £989

Project Payback: 26.5 months

We always consider the energy benefits of LED-dimming, presence-detection and daylight control, but in the retail space these were not felt necessary due the need for lights to be permanently operating.
