Case Study: Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council – Street Lighting
In 2017, ASD Lighting completed a competitive tender and were successfully awarded the contract to supply 15,000 LED street light lanterns to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. The existing lantern stock for these units is mostly 36W PL-L lanterns with a circuit wattage of approx. 40W. The replacement ASD Lighting Mini Diamond Elite lanterns offers equivalent light output using just an 8 LED 400mA product with a circuit wattage of just 12W, offering a 70% energy reduction to the council as well as the inherent maintenance cost savings of installing the Diamond Elite range of products from ASD Lighting with an LED life in excess of 150,000 hours compared to the existing 36W PL-L which would need replacing on average once every 10,000 hours.
The Diamond Elite range is manufactured in our 200,00 sq ft factory in the heart of South Yorkshire where we employ over 200 members of staff. It is manufactured with market leading delivery times of just 10-14 days from receipt of an order, although we are often able to deliver even quicker this. Because of this, we were able to supply to Rotherham MBC almost immediately after the award of the contract to allow them to install even quicker than planned and benefit from even more energy savings.
“We have recently gone through a process to replace 15,000 of our street lighting lanterns. A local Yorkshire company, ASD Lighting PLC, was successful in winning the contract after an extensive tender process. I wanted to share with you the positive feedback I have had from my Street Lighting team working with a local provider;
- Excellent mobilisation from the start of contract and deliveries within 5 days of contract award.
- Flexibility of deliveries and stock holding.
- Excellent support and back up.
- Lightweight units.
- Zero failure rate after installation of 2500 units
- Excellent optical performance – meets exact criteria that we require and specified at a lower energy consumption than competitors.
- Design service for dimming to ensure British Standard compliance.
- Innovative product designs for other bespoke applications.”
