Supporting the city of Petaling Jaya in Malaysia to design and implement a low carbon strategy
We have over a decade of experience working closely with public sector organisations to develop long-term strategies to reduce their environmental impact and save money.
Recently we worked with the government of the city of Petaling Jaya on a two year pilot to adapt our low carbon cities programme for Malaysia.
In the first year we helped create a five year carbon management strategy and action plan for the city government’s own estate and operations. This was designed to deliver climate change mitigation alongside substantial energy cost savings.
Over the last year this has been extended to support the implementation planning of energy efficiency and low carbon measures across the wider city region, resulting in the launch of a Low Carbon City Action Plan.
This covers a number of areas, including: residential electricity use; business and industry energy efficiency; the energy performance of new developments; renewable energy generation; and decreasing the total number of private vehicles and increasing use of hybrids and electric vehicles.
Our programme is new being rolled out to other local areas in Malaysia, including the neighbouring city of Kuala Lumpur.
