Call for entries from companies and consortia interested to undertake a study for the OWA Foundations Technical Working Group (TWG-F) to investigate the thickness exponent for circumferential welds in tubular sections.

Monopiles are predicted to continue to be the most common foundation choice for the future for offshore wind and monopiles sizes are expected to increase as turbines also increase in scale. With this expected increase in turbine sizes, plate thicknesses are expected to increase. With increasing plate thicknesses, it is observed that the thickness penalty effect becomes increasingly detrimental.

The main objective of this project is to investigate, test, and to provide a new guideline for the thickness exponent for circular butt welds in monopiles in the as-welded condition.

The deadline for clarification questions is 30 May 2025 at 13:00 BST.

The closing date to receive tender submissions is 20 June 2025 at 16:00 BST.
