Floating Wind Joint Industry Programme: Pre-Stretching and Re-tensioning of Fibre Ropes (PSRT)

Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study investigating the requirements for pre-stretching and re-tensioning of commercial scale floating wind synthetic mooring systems.

The Floating Wind JIP would like to:

  • Outline the operational complexities for pre-stretching and re-tensioning in real-world scenarios for two synthetics nylon and polyester.
  • Understand how technology innovations can improve the effectiveness of pre-stretching and re-tensioning of fibre ropes, in relation to elongation control and tension maintenance.
  • Investigate offshore operations and optimise through an improved understanding of installation and maintenance requirements for re-tensioning events.
  • Provide an initial framework to assess the effect on CAPEX and OPEX through a better understanding of the impacts and pre-installation mitigations for fibre rope elongation/creep.

The deadline for clarification questions is 17:00 BST April 19th 2024.
