The UK is experiencing an increase in energy-intensive demand on the grid, driven by the expansion of AI clusters, data centres and industrial decarbonisation efforts. However, difficulties in forecasting demand and implementing flexible demand management, and slow grid connection processes and infrastructure constraints pose significant barriers to integrating these large, concentrated loads efficiently. To unlock economic potential, network capacity must be expanded through more agile, scalable, and sustainable approaches.
Part of the Ofgem SIF Ideation programme, this webinar will provide more context on the 'High energy demand point integration' challenge. It will set the context for this challenge theme and provide useful references and examples on how this challenge plays out in practice. Register your interest for the webinar on 1 May from 11am to 12:30pm BST.
The webinar will also be followed by a collaborative workshop to ideate potential solutions as part of the 'All-Energy Conference' in Glasgow. Register your interest for the workshop on 14 May from 11am to 12:30pm BST at Scottish Event Campus, Glasglow.
This webinar and workshop is a series of workshops and webinars for the Round 5 Strategic Innovation Fund programme. Find out about the second series here
