Offshore Wind Accelerator: High Voltage Array Systems [OWA Hi-VAS] Phase 1

Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested in assisting Carbon Trust to build industry consensus on the requirements for 132kV array cables (fixed and dynamic).  This tender forms one work package of the overall project, and the results from this work will feed into the remainder of the project.

The main objectives of this work are:

  • To build understanding and consensus amongst the OWA Hi-VAS Project Participants regarding the requirements for 132 kV array cables (“OWA 132kV cable requirements”).
  • To build a picture of what the supply chain envisages as possible or optimal in terms of 132kV array cable design, and undertaken gap analysis to identify the differences between the OWA 132 kV cable requirements and the expected supply chain offering.
  • In parallel with the consensus building, to have the OWA 132 kV array cable requirements fed into formal standards for lead-free subsea cables >66kV, potentially via a new Cigré working group.
  • To develop a project scope for follow-on work to be conducted in Hi-VAS Phase 2, by building on the gap analysis and identifying whether signals need to be sent from the OWA Hi-VAS Project Participants to the supply chain to encourage the supply chain to design to the OWA 132 kV array cable requirements.
