Offshore Wind Accelerator: Floating LiDAR for ever increasing hub heights

Call for entries from companies and consortia interested to undertake a study that aims to investigate the ability of floating LiDARs to provide accurate and reliable wind resource measurements at heights ≥150m.

The main objectives of this work are to:

  1. Provide insight to the OWA partners on the current understanding of floating LiDARs ability to produce accurate and reliable wind resource measurements at heights ≥150m.
  2. Undertake onshore measurement trials and subsequent analysis to be able to quantify the likely uncertainty in measurements offshore, including methods for correcting any potential biases found in the analysis based on knowledge of the LiDAR operating principles, filtering, reconstruction algorithms, etc.
  3. Update the floating LiDAR roadmap based on the results of the analysis and research.
