Offshore Wind Accelerator: High Voltage Array Systems (OWA Hi-VAS) Phase 1

Calling for entries from companies and consortia interested in undertaking a study to identify the optimal future array system voltage for offshore wind farms and developing a roadmap as to how the industry can move to this voltage.

The main objectives of this work are to:

  • study the technical and regulatory requirements to enable the industry to collectively and intelligently decide on the optimum future array voltage level, and the timing for making the switch
  • identify the technical and regulatory developments required to enable the increase in array voltage
  • send a clear message to the supply chain and regulators about the need and intention to raise the array voltage
  • lay the basis for the Hi-VAS (Phase 2) project
