climate finance

Climate finance

We help financial institutions design financing products that work for farmers and agricultural businesses, and build pipelines of projects that can drive the transition to more sustainable food systems. We also work with businesses to access climate finance and develop farmer incentive programmes.

A more resilient food system starts with agriculture

The world's food system is under growing pressure. Lower yields, soil degradation, changing consumer expectations and new regulations are reshaping how food is produced and sourced. Already, changing weather patterns and extreme events are threatening crop yields, food security, and the livelihoods of the people the food system relies on.

Food and agricultural value chains are highly fragmented, making coordinated action across producers, suppliers and buyers difficult. At the same time, pressure is growing to reduce emissions while maintaining resilient supply chains and supporting producer livelihoods.

The Carbon Trust works with agricultural businesses and food and drink companies to build the business case for change, improve carbon transparency, strengthen resilience across supply chains, and translate insights into targeted action and investment.

We also collaborate with financial institutions to direct climate finance toward regenerative agriculture and with innovators to scale promising agricultural solutions.

Accelerating food systems with FASTA

Innovators play a vital role in addressing agriculture's most complex challenges and making food systems more sustainable. To succeed, they need practical insights and strong networks.

The Food and Agriculture Systems Technology Accelerator (FASTA) connects stakeholders across the food and agriculture sector to move innovations from concept to deployment. In partnership with the UK Agri-Tech Centre, the first cohort focuses on measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) technologies to help demonstrate the value of sustainable farming, unlock funding and accelerate the adoption of more sustainable practices.
