Benjamin Curnier


Benjamin heads up the Carbon Trust’s Southern Africa office in Pretoria. He is responsible for establishing, and growing the Carbon Trust’s operations in Southern Africa, in charge of business development, and delivery of projects throughout the region. Presently Benjamin is working with the South African Government on the development of a large energy efficiency programme for the public sector, and is also supporting delivery of trans-African projects in energy access for UK FCDO and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Benjamin was heavily involved in the implementation of the Private Sector Energy Efficiency (PSEE) Programme in South Africa, and provided technical and strategic assistance to the NBI (National Business Initiative) as programme lead. This programme was supported by DFID and aimed to improve energy efficiency in commercial and industrial companies in South Africa through the provision of various services to assist companies in identifying and implementing energy saving measures.

Benjamin joined the Carbon Trust in 2010, and has held a number of management roles, including in Carbon Trust’s Certification, Policy and Public Sector practices. Benjamin joined the Carbon Trust from PwC, where he worked as a consultant within the strategy group, working on engagements providing commercial due diligence (buy and sell side), and strategic advisory services. Benjamin holds a master's of Aerospace Engineering with French from the University of Bath.
