Rhiannon joined the Carbon Trust in April 2022 as an Innovation Manager, supporting the UK Government’s Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP).

Previously, Rhiannon spent 20 years as a UK and European patent attorney, specialising in life sciences and biotechnology. She was recognised in 2021 and 2022 as one of the leading attorneys in the UK by the guide ‘Chambers & Partners’, being described as “thoughtful and diligent”. During her career, Rhiannon worked on a range of technologies, including vaccines, diagnostics, and microbial production of biofuels. Latterly, she became an expert in CRISPR gene editing.

Rhiannon has enormous experience in advising companies of all sizes in how best to use their intellectual property assets to further their overall business goals. She also has experience as a business leader and owner, having spent over 10 years as a partner in an SME firm of patent and trade mark attorneys. 

Rhiannon is a Trustee for the Centre for Alternative Technology, sitting on the Finance Committee. She also provides volunteer support to the charities The Access Project, Avon Needs Trees, and Bath Child Contact Centre.
