Serene’s work currently focusses on supporting the development of strategic energy innovation programmes for the UK government. She has experience in delivering technical and policy related projects in the UK and sub-Saharan Africa across a range of energy system topics.  She is a recognised expert in the rapidly growing hydrogen sector and has an in-depth understanding of UK and European hydrogen policy.  

Prior to the Carbon Trust, Serene served as Secretary for the UK Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association where she played a key role in supporting the acceleration and commercialisation of hydrogen technologies. 

Serene holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Leeds in Energy Engineering.
