Existing Technology: Fixed speed compressor that was around 30 years old and a variable speed model of around seven to eight years old
New Technology: Atlas Copco GA30VSD+ (keeping the old variable speed compressor as a back-up)
Capital Cost: £15,800
Energy Saving: £3,172 per annum
Carbon Saving (tCO2e): 14.4 per annum
Project Payback: 5 Years
After an energy saving audit showed a potential energy reduction of £3172 per year, we replaced the older fixed speed compressor with a new Atlas Copco GA30VSD+, while keeping the old variable speed compressor as a back-up. In addition to the new compressor, the old leaking pipework was replaced with new Transair pipework. So, not only is the new compressor generating more air at a lower price, but the system is also retaining more air. This will further increase the energy savings made by Habasit and contribute to the reliability of their compressed air.
“Both the clarity of the information PPS provided and the advice was good. We [now] have more capable and reliable machinery, which saves energy and offers a more consistent supply to the factory. I was pleased and impressed with the professionalism of the sales people through to the installation engineers and I’d be happy to recommend their services”
Richard Coates, Process Engineering Manager at Habasit
