The Sustainable Schools Panama Programme

The Sustainable Schools Panama Programme was designed by the Carbon Trust to leverage UK and international best practice in schools carbon reduction, so as to empower Panama’s Secretaría Nacional de Energía to implement a transformational and cost effective sustainable schools initiative.

The programme was built upon five essential outputs that have proven instrumental in driving material carbon and cost savings to schools in the UK. It focussed on building capacity in schools to engage the whole school community in tackling energy consumption and driving low carbon innovation. Results included the identification of 20% energy cost and carbon savings across five participating schools and the publication of tools and resources for all schools nationally to engage in.
