Free energy efficiency training and mentoring for startups and young SMEs
Do you work for a startup or young SME*? Learn more about how the START2ACT programme can help you to save energy and improve your environmental credentials:
*A young SME is defined as a company with fewer than 50 employees that has been operating for under five years. If you do not meet these criteria and are interested in receiving energy saving advice, please see the Carbon Trust Green Business Fund.
The Carbon Trust will run a series of START2ACT breakfast events around the UK for employees from young SMEs to learn about how to reduce energy consumption at work. These events will give SMEs a good introduction to energy management and a better understanding of how they can identify energy saving opportunities at their workplace.
Young SMEs can sign up for Carbon Trust START2ACT one-to-one energy efficiency training. This training will include three on-site visits to your business over the course of a year. The visits will allow the Carbon Trust trainer to work together with you to identify and implement energy saving measures over time.
These measures will be primarily low cost and no cost, to enable you to see quick wins with very little investment. The visits will be scheduled at regular intervals so that the Carbon Trust trainer can review your progress with you and give you and your colleagues the opportunity to ask questions and suggest new measures.
Startups can register for mentoring sessions to discuss how you can increase energy efficiency in all areas of business development. Topics may include greening your products and services, setting sustainable procurement policies and choosing an energy efficient premises. Improving your environmental credentials can increase your customer base, as well as helping you to grow sustainably as your company matures.
An open-access interactive online platform has been created with a variety of energy efficiency resources for SMEs and startups. The platform includes a website with energy efficiency advice (the 'Knowledge Base'), an eLearning course and an energy saving competition.
