Overview

More than half of the world's population already lives in cities, and another 2.5 billion people are projected to move to urban areas by 2050. The way we build new cities will be at the heart of so much that matters, from climate change to economic vitality, to our very well-being and sense of connectedness.

Cities and city regions account for just 3% of the world’s surface area, but account for 75% of our energy consumption and 80% of our GHG emissions.

Why the Carbon Trust?

We have been at the forefront of public sector strategic and technical support both in the UK and overseas for almost 20 years. We have helped over 3,000 public sector organisations to cut their energy bills by over £700 million, while reducing their carbon emissions by more than 17.5 million tonnes.
