This webinar, presented by an expert from the Technology and Delivery team at the Carbon Trust, explains to retailers the benefits of improved energy efficiency.  The webinar covers example case studies and information on how small and medium enterprises can apply for a Green Business Fund Capital Contribution.

Reducing energy use makes perfect business sense; it saves money, enhances reputation and helps everyone in the fight against climate change.  The Carbon Trust provides simple, effective and free advice through the Green Business Fund to help small businesses reduce carbon emissions, reduce energy use and importantly reduce energy costs.

This webinar is for retailers interested in learning more about energy efficiency opportunities in their sector.  Saving energy is one of the simplest ways to increase profits and reducing overheads can directly increase margins without the need to increase sales.  Opportunities for store managers to save energy, can be split into three main categories:

  • Switching off; a basic measure, but good staff discipline, simple timer control or improved building control can provide significant savings at no cost;
  • Maintenance; enhanced focus on energy performance at routine maintenance can optimise the efficient operation of existing systems; and
  • Refurbishment; when a store refurb is planned, energy saving measures can cost effectively be integrated into the upgrades.

During the course of the webinar we review all common energy using systems in the retail sector including; lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.
