Several Colombian utility companies have begun conducting pilot projects to test Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system designs in the field, many of which are showing initial success. There is a growing consensus that implementing an AMI system in Colombia could help reduce costs significantly by identifying where technical and non-technical losses occur in the system.
