At the Carbon Trust we have made accessibility a priority during the development of this website and we will continue to make improvements to make our site as accessible as possible for everyone. We recognise the importance of providing a web site that is inclusive and available for all user groups. This page explains our approach to making the web site accessible and what we have done to facilitate this;
- the facilities that we have in-built for differently abled groups;
- guidance on how to use particular features; and
- what to do if you have any questions or feedback for us.

Screen reader, voice browser and screen magnifier users
Navigation mechanisms have been designed to be accessible by both screen readers and voice browsers.
Non-sighted users
All images have a text equivalent in order to work with a screen reader. Where the image was considered decorative we have removed the image from the flow of the document by using a null ‘alt’ attribute.
We have also used headings and lists to allow screen reader users to navigate the pages better. We have added label tags into forms to make them easier for users to complete.
Partially sighted users
The web site has a facility to change the font size of the text on all of the web pages of the site. See Guidance on how to change the style sheet.
Guidance on how to change the font size in common browsers
If you are using Internet Explorer, first select "View" from the menu bar then "Text Size" and select from "Smallest" to "Largest".
If you are using Firefox select "View" from the menu bar, then "Zoom In" or "Zoom Out".
Guidance on how to change your style sheet
Users may import their own style sheet into the web site In Internet Explorer, select "Tools", "Internet Options" and then "Accessibility". Next select one or more of the three checkboxes to ignore colours, font styles or font sizes.
In the same window, you can change the style sheet by clicking the checkbox that says "Format document using my style sheet", and then browse to find your preferred style sheet and click ok. In Netscape, select Edit, Preferences and then Appearance. You will then be given a choice of colours and fonts.
Navigating the site
As well as the navigation bars and in page content we have provided a site search facility and site map.
Search
At the top of each page you will find the ‘Search' option to enable you to search for keywords on the site. You can also specify the content type to search to help filter your search results.
