In addition to his role as chair of the Carbon Trust, James is chair of the Conservatoire of Dance and Drama and chair of the advisory board of the Grantham Institute at Imperial College and LSE. James retired from Shell in April 2011 after 7 years as Chairman of Shell UK.

Chief Executive, The Carbon Trust

Tom was appointed as the first Chief Executive of the Carbon Trust in 2001. Tom has extensive experience in the energy sector, with 16 years in commercial and operations roles at Shell, before moving into management consultancy with McKinsey and the Global Energy Practice of A.T. Kearney prior to joining the Carbon Trust.

Michael joined in 2002 as director of strategy and brought his expertise to a number of operational roles at the Carbon Trust before taking up his current position.

Paul Jefferiss is Head of Policy at BP and has served on numerous government, academic and private sector governance boards and advisory committees in the US, UK and EU, with a focus on energy, climate and the environment.

Dorothy is chairman of Dragon Rouge, which she co-founded c.20 years ago. Dragon Rouge is a global design and innovation business using insights and creativity to deliver powerful brand performance. Dorothy has been a pioneer in promoting the integration of sustainability considerations into brand thinking to promote long-term brand success and environmental and social progress.

Chris Mottershead is Vice-Principal (Research and Innovation) at King’s College London. He joined King’s in 2009 after retiring from BP, where he worked for 30 years, most recently as their Global Advisor on Energy Security and Climate Change.

Tim has been Chief Financial Officer of Petrofac Limited, the FTSE100 oilfield services company, since September 2011. Tim has also served as a non-executive director of BBC Worldwide since 2010.

Francisco Barnés was designated as the head of the National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change by the President of Mexico in March 2011. Prior to this he was a partner at McKinsey & Company as part of the global leadership team on Energy and Sustainability Practices, advising governments, NGOs, private companies and public sector institutions.

Until 2014 Neil was deputy director-general and chief operating officer of the CBI, where he was responsible for UK and international operations, business planning, and representing the CBI nationally and internationally to governments and media.

Pelam Hawker was an executive director at Johnson Matthey plc and ran many of that company’s businesses, as well as being appointed to the main board. He is currently chairman of Metalysis Ltd, chair of a panel allocating grants for low carbon vehicle infrastructure, an associate Professor at Cardiff University and serves on the advisory board to the faculty of science at Warwick University.

Peter Hobson is a senior banker in the Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Team of the EBRD and has over 25 years' experience in energy finance including project development, policy dialogue and sustainable development issues.

Emma Howard Boyd is an independent non-executive member of the Environment Agency Board and a Non-Executive Director of the Future Cities Catapult. Emma was formerly the director of sustainable investment and governance at Jupiter Asset Management. She is also a senior associate of the University of Cambridge's Institute for Sustainability Leadership and until 2012 was a director of Triodos Renewables Plc.

David Nussbaum became Chief Executive of WWF-UK in May 2007. As well as leading the UK organisation, he also chairs the WWF network’s Global Climate and Energy Initiative. Previously he was the Chief Executive of Transparency International (‘TI’).

Nina is the former Vice President Finance and Treasurer of the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). She was appointed Treasurer in 2000 and Vice President Finance in 2003, and held those titles until she retired in 2011. Nina currently serves on the boards of Man Group, RusRail Leasing, African Minerals and is a member the World Bank Group Pension Board.

Jim Skea is currently Research Councils UK Energy Strategy Fellow. The Fellowship was established in 2012 in response to recommendations from the International Review of Energy Research undertaken by the Research Councils in 2010.

Ian has extensive senior management experience, spending over twenty years at Johnson Matthey as it has grew to become a major international business and FTSE 100 company. He was a member of the company’s executive committee for much of that time. Ian was awarded an OBE in 2007 for Services to the Environment.
